Communicating with scouts/parents is one of the most important tasks unit leaders have. SOAR has implemented the following industry standard technologies to ensure email delivery, decrease the chance that unit email ends up in member's junk folder, and block SPAM from unit mailing lists.
Sender Policy Framework (SPF)
SPF is a technology that helps Email Servers verify that the source of an email is authorized to send that email. This is based on the domain name of the sending email address. This technology also prevents email addresses from being used as the source of unsolicited email and increases the probability that unit email will not reach member's junk email folder.
Domain Keys and DKIM
These technologies are similar to Sender Policy Framework in that they help a receiving Email Server verify the source of individual emails. The difference is that with DK/DKIM each individual email message sent form SOAR servers is digitally signed with a private key and the receiving Email Server can verify the signature through the use of public keys.
The result is that each email's "authenticity" rating is increased. The implementation of multiple of these technology further increases the score.
Domain Name Serer Block List (DNSBL)
DNSBL verifies the IP Address of the Email Server that is trying to send an email before accepting the message. If the IP Address is a known source of SPAM, the email is rejected.
Yahoo and AOL Whitelists
Yahoo and AOL provide programs for companies to get on a preferred Email Server list. Email from these preferred servers then avoids a number of the provider's SPAM filters and has a much greater success rate at avoiding individual member's junk email folder. This is called a Whitelist. SOAR has completed and been accepted into both the Yahoo and AOL Whitelist programs.
SOAR continues to provide its customers new and upgraded features for the same yearly cost.
